At Toni Morrison Elementary, we inspire, challenge, and empower our students in grades PK - 5 through the love of learning by mastering the basics as they develop their own skills and interests. We promote high expectations while working together with parents and the Lorain community to develop students to their full potential.

WHO WAS TONI MORRISON?
Toni Morrison Elementary opened in August 2007 and is named for Lorain native Chloe Wofford. She graduated from Lorain High School in January 1949 and was Treasurer of her graduating class. She has written many best selling novels and is a winner of a Pulitzer Prize and a Nobel Prize. Among her best known novels are The Bluest Eye, Song of Solomon and Beloved. She is Lorain’s only Nobel Laureate. She later changed her name to Toni Morrison.
